Michael D. Benefield

Michael D. Benefield, 49, formerly of Elmore, OH died suddenly at his home in Sandusky, OH Monday, April 9, 2007. He was born October 17, 1957 in Toledo, OH to the late Leslie and Irene (Underwood) Benefield. He was a 1975 Graduate of Woodmore High School, after which he entered the United States Marine Corps. Michael worked as a Stock Handler for Ford Motor Company in Sandusky for over 20 years. He was a past member of St. Paul Trinity United Methodist Church, Elmore. He loved the outdoors; participated in athletics; was a First Degree Black Belt, and taught Tae Kwon Do in Elmore, loved his dogs and his family. He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Benefield of Northfield, OH; step-son, Russell Lawrence of Sandusky; former wife Diana Benefield; brothers, Ken Benefield of Genoa, OH, Larry Benefield of Gibsonburg, OH, Ronald Benefield of Oak Harbor, OH; sisters Monette Croll, Elaine Gerkensmeyer and Becky Hoffman, all of Elmore, Pat Helmeci of Atlanta, GA, Shelia Jensen of Bowling Green, OH, and Criss Benefield of Birmingham, AL. Mike is also Uncle to 21 nieces and nephews and Great Uncle to sixteen. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call from 2-8 P.M. Friday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore, where the family will be present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, April 14, 2007 at St. Paul-Trinity United Methodist Church, Elmore with the Rev. Rick Stuhmer officiating. Interment will be in Clay Township Cemetery with full Military Rites conducted by American Legion Post 279, Elmore.
