Merlyn C. Weng

Merlyn C. Weng, 81 of Elmore, OH died Monday, January 8, 2024 at his home under Hospice Care. He was born May 10, 1942 in Gibsonburg, OH to the late Carl and Tracy (Myers) Weng. He was a 1960 graduate of Harris Elmore High School. On September 24, 1965 he married the former Jean E. Bartell, and she survives.

Merlyn retired from Sun Oil Refinery, after 32 years, where he spent a majority of his time working as a crane operator. During his working years, Merlyn also became a veteran of the Army Reserves. Favorite pastimes included carpentry, training and racing harness horses, and cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes. Above all else, Merlyn was devoted to his family and church. Merlyn found joy in traveling with his wife, supporting his grandchildren at their sporting events, and most recently spending as much time as possible with his four great-granddaughters. He was also a lifelong member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elmore, where he served in numerous capacities.

Survivors include his wife Jean of Elmore, OH, daughter Debbra (Jeff) Boos of Millbury, OH; Grandchildren: Josh (Erica) Boos, Rebecca (Tyler) Rickman, Marissa Boos; Great-grandchildren: Margaret and June Boos, Elsie and Madelyn Rickman, Sister: Darlene (Dan) Nehls. He was preceded in death by: his parents and brother Delbert Weng. Merlyn played a

significant role in his loved ones’ lives and will be greatly missed by many.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 2-8pm at Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore-Genoa Chapel. Funeral Services will begin at 11am, with family present an hour prior, on Monday, January 15, 2024 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elmore with Pastor Jaci Tiell officiating.
