Melvin O. Luecht, 77, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died Saturday evening at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, Ohio. He was born in Oak Harbor on April 3, 1930, the son of Otto & Florence (Krieger) Luecht. Melvin was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving in Korea and Japan, and was a member of V.F.W. Post #8732, Oak Harbor. He was an employee of the former Erie Army Depot for many years until its closing, and then was a heavy equipment mechanic at Defense Construction Supply in Columbus, OH, until his retirement. A man of many talents, Melvin especially enjoyed tending his gardens and flowers, and collecting and working on his clocks. He married the former Marvine Cooper on June 2, 1956, and she survives. Also surviving is his daughter, Mary Sue Luecht of Oak Harbor. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Carl, and his sister, Mildred Kirshner. The family will receive friends from 2-8 P.M. Tuesday at Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor, with the Rev. David A. Voll officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor, with military graveside rites conducted by V.F.W. Post #8732.
