Melvin F. Jensen, 84, of Elmore, OH died Friday, February 24, 2012 at Mercy- St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, OH. He was born October 9, 1927 in Oak Harbor, OH to the late Edward and Myrtle (Young) Jensen. On January 23, 1948 he married the former Rose Rollheiser and she survives. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. Mr. Jensen worked 20 years at the Erie Army Depot as an investigator in the storage division. He then worked for 23 years for Roadway Express as City Operations Manager. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, American Legion Post #114, V.F.W. Post #8732, all of Oak Harbor and has been involved with Boy Scouts of America Troop #333 since 1958, of Rocky Ridge. Survivors include his wife of 64 years Rose of Oak Harbor, sons: Frederick (Judy) Jensen of Oak Harbor, Edward (Terrie) Jensen of Elmore, OH, Christopher (Cheryl Repp) Jensen of Bay Village, OH; daughter Anita (Kevin) Febrey of Oak Harbor; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great- grandchildren; sister Eileen Brossia of Perrysburg, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Bernard "Doc", Vernon, and Edward Jensen, and sister Erma Leady Finnigan. Visitation will be Monday from 2-7:30pm Monday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor where Parish Wake Services will be held Monday evening at 7:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 10am at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor with the Rev. Gerald Chmiel celebrant. Burial will be in Salem Township Union Cemetery where military honors will be given by local American Legion and V.F.W. Post Members.
