Maxine S. Plummer May 14, 1926 – May 22, 2024.
While it is up for some debate and difficult to find on a map the exact location, Maxine Plummer was born in Curtain, West Virginia—a state that always held a special place in her heart. She just recently celebrated her 98th year on this earth complete with cupcakes, close family, and a party hat. She will be deeply missed and we are thankful for her spunk and spirit to the very end.
She called Port Clinton home for most of her life, raising a family, working at a variety of local establishments—the Port Clinton Fish Company, the old Log Cabins, Bob Underwoods, and even Edgewood Manor where she would eventually spend her final days. She built a life well lived and a legacy of love. She was an avid gardener and canner, cultivated beautiful plants, always had the best and brightest birds at her feeders, and made everyone, including her beloved beagles over the years, the best food and treats. She also was a pretty decent shot, a hell of a fisherwoman, and was tough as nails. 98 years on this earth means that there are lots of stories to share and spin, and they will all be treasured. But, what was most notable of all the moments of Maxine’s life was simply how special she made others feel.
She is survived by her son, Melvin Plummer of Port Clinton; daughter Retha Dress (Charles) of Port Clinton; daughter-in-law: Joann Plummer of Huron, OH, brother Glen Flanagan of West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her son, Raymond Plummer (Joann Plummer), brother Forest Flanagan and sister Gerri. She was a grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, great aunt and great-great aunt to so, so many who will carry her spirit with them every single day.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Neidecker, Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1124 Fulton St. Port Clinton with visitation at the funeral home Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral.
