Mary Margaret Clere

Mary Margaret Clere, 88, of Graytown, Ohio, died Monday, July 29, 2013 at her home. She was born on May 31, 1925 in New Boston, Ohio, a daughter of the late Samuel & Sylvia (Yeley) Wilburn. Margaret was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, cooking, and canning. She was fond of playing cards, especially Rummy and loved painting yard crafts. On July 10, 1940, she married Clarence R. Clere, and he preceded her in death on February 17, 2012 after 71 years of marriage. Margaret is survived by her sons, Clarence Ronald (Joyce) Clere, Graytown, Larry T. (Pam) Clere, Buford, Georgia, John R. (Ele) Clere, Mililani, Hawaii; daughter, Janet L. Herman, Genoa, Ohio; son-in-law, Richard VanNess, Oak Harbor, Ohio; brothers, Milton Carlos (Arlene) Wilburn and Melford Ray (Sharon) Wilburn, both of Oak Harbor; her caregiver and granddaughter Kelly Berndt, and 11 other grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren, and 33 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sons, Robert E. Clere and James L. Clere; daughter, Verna VanNess; brothers, Clarence, Samuel, and George Wilburn, and a sister Verna Wilburn. Friends may call from 2-8 P.M. Thursday at Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, where the family will be present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Timothy F. Ferris officiating. Interment will be in Elliston Cemetery, Elliston, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
