Mary L. Damschroder, 88, of Lindsey, OH, died unexpectedly Monday at Memorial Hospital, Fremont, OH. She was born in Sandusky County on August 27, 1918, a daughter of the late John & Helen (Heineman) Waggoner. A 1936 graduate of Gibsonburg High School, Mary was a former member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hessville, OH, where she was a Sunday School teacher. On October 9, 1937, she married Wilson G. “Cookie” Damschroder, and he preceded her in death on September 5, 2001. Mary assisted her husband in the operation of the family farm. She was a member of the Sandusky County Farm Bureau, and Faith Lutheran Church, Fremont. Mary is survived by her sons, James (Dorothy) Damschroder, Elmore, OH, Scott (Norma) Damschroder, Studio City, CA, Jerry (Alice) Damschroder, Van Nuys, CA, and Dennis (Teresa) Damschroder, Alexandria, OH; her sister, Annabelle Avers, Lindsey, OH; 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stephanie Damschroder. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Friday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church, Fremont, with interment in Union Cemetery, Elmore.
