Mary Kathryn Clemons, 85, of Catawba Island, Ohio, died peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio. She was born on October 16, 1926 in Green Springs, Ohio, the daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah (Conley) Kinney. She married Robert Clemons on June 17, 1950 and he survives. After graduating from high school, Mary attended Bowling Green State University where she obtained her teaching certificate, and then taught at Rocky Ridge School, until she began to raise her family. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, where she was formerly active in the study club, parish council, Christ Renews His Parish, Eucharistic Minister, and helped teach religious education. She was also a member of several bridge clubs, and a member of the Port Clinton Holiday Bureau. Her hobbies included playing tennis, cooking, an avid reader of politics and philosophy, but her main passion in life above all things, was being a devoted mom and grandma to her family. Survivors include her husband: Robert; daughters: Carol Clemons, Port Clinton; Sally (John) Cipiti, Port Clinton; Mary (Chad Martin) Clemons, Whidbey, Washington; sons: Daniel (Vicky) Clemons, Port Clinton; John (Sandy) Clemons, Marblehead; James Clemons, Port Clinton; five grandchildren; three step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and sister: Florence Heschel, Avon Lake, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Betty Morris and Ellen Frost; brother: Tom Kinney; and a grandson. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2011 from 2-6pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton. Family prayers will begin at the funeral home at 9:30am on Monday, December 19, 2011 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison Street, Port Clinton, with Father John C. Missler officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Island Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or to Stein Hospice.
