Mary Jane Bacak

Mary Jane Bacak, 79, of Port Clinton, passed away unexpectedly on February 2, 2010. She was born on April 3, 1930 to Mary (Ondrick) and John Andrews. She was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings: Andrew, John Robert, Olga Anguino, Ruth Lockhart, Elmer Paul, Raymond G. and Elaine Pauline Clemons. She was a devoted wife and is survived by her husband of 61 years, Stephen J. Bacak. She will be greatly missed by her six children: Carole Mullins (Richard), Stephen J. Bacak, Jr., Shay Myers, Don Bacak (Jody), JoAnn Listen (Marty) and Alice Bacak (Alan) and eight grandchildren: Stephen J. Bacak III, Brian Bacak, Laura Laubacher (Jeremy), Ben Bacak, Jon Myers, Amanda Myers, Lacey and Landon Listen. She will also be missed by her special friends Mary Ann Lublow, Beverly Peters and Linda Moses. She had a very special place in her heart for her pet, Miss Kitty. Mary Jane and Steve purchased Jess's Market in LaCarne in 1968 and ran it as the SMJ Country Store for 38 years. She tiredlessly supported Peace Lutheran Church and many other charities. She loved anything that involved the outdoors-gardening, flowers and bird watching especially humming birds. She and her husband spent lots of hours watching birds and squirrels. She enjoyed listening to all the big band sounds of the 40's and 50's. Watching Cleveland Indians baseball had become a recent passion and of course she was an Ohio State fan. A memorial service will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 900 Jefferson Street, Port Clinton at 11 am on Friday February 12th. Visitation with the family will be one hour preceding the service. A luncheon will be held at the church immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Peace Lutheran Church, St Joseph Catholic Church of Marblehead, Edgewood Manor Nursing Center of Port Clinton or a favorite charity of your choice.
