Mary Frances Evans

Mary Frances Evans, 83, of Lakeside-Marblehead, OH passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, OH. She was born January 2, 1940 in Auburn, WV the daughter of William Hayward and Verna (Moore) Hall. She married Leonard Thomas Evans on

October 12, 1968 at Auburn United Methodist Church. Mary worked as a teacher’s aide and then a cook for the Port Clinton City Schools retiring in 2012. She was a member of both Peace Lutheran Church and Family of Faith Methodist Church (formerly Faith United Methodist Church) in Port Clinton. She was also a member of the Port Clinton Eastern Star Chapter No. 267. She was very close with her family and known by many for her cooking. She loved to sew and collect angels, bells, souvenir spoons, and salt and pepper shakers. Mary was generous with her time and over the years supported many local causes.

Surviving are her husband: Leonard (Tom) Evans; daughter: Connie Frances (Douglas) Holly of Amherst, OH; son: Hayward Thomas (Sandy) Evans of Port Clinton; five grandchildren: Michael (Kate) Holly, Robert Holly, Michael (Kim) Marinoff, Amber (Jerry) Sexton, Shawn (Stephanie) Evans, and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents: William Hayward and Verna (Moore) Hall; siblings: Jessie LaVonne Goff, Robert Gail Hall, and William Henry Hall.

Memorial services will be conducted at 1:30 pm on Saturday, January 13, 2024. It will be held at Family of Faith Methodist Church, located at 430 Jackson St, Port Clinton, OH 43452. The service will be officiated by Rev. Ted Austin.

Afterwards a funeral reception will be held at Oliver H. Perry Masonic Lodge at 3:00 pm. The lodge is located at 118 Monroe Street, Port Clinton Ohio.
