Mary Ann Market, 74, of Put-in-Bay died Monday, April 26, 2010 at her residence. She was born Nov. 21, 1935 on Isle St. George, the daughter of the late Charles S. and Julia (Millie) DeVore. She graduated from Put-in-Bay High School in 1953. She married William E. Market on May 8, 1954 and he preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 2006. Mrs. Market along with her husband owned the family business, Miller Boat Line, Put-in-Bay, OH. She was a member of St Paul's Episcopal Church, Put-in-Bay where she previously served on the church vestry, Lake Erie Islands Historical Society where she was a past board member, The Perry Group where she was past-president and a past board member, girl scout leader, Put-in-Bay PTA and she was very active in the Put-in-Bay community. She was the 2008 recipient of the Ottawa County Outstanding Senior Citizen and Mary Ann and Bill Market were the 2005 Islanders of the Year of the Put-in-Bay Property Owners Association. Surviving are her sons William C. Market, Scott E. (Susan) Market both of Put-in-Bay; daughter Julene M. Market of Put-in-Bay; grandchildren: Jacob, Jordan, Caitlin, Leah, Gwena Market; brothers: Jack (Renee) DeVore of Catawba Twp., Ralph DeVore of Danbury Twp. and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill and brother Howard DeVore. Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, May 1, 2010 at St Paul's Episcopal Church, Put-in-Bay. Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00 7:00 pm at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton. The family will greet friends Saturday morning from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will be in Mapleleaf Cemetery, Put-in-Bay, OH. Memorial contributions may be given to the William E. Market Island Community Fund, Stein Hospice or the island charity of your choice.
