Marvin "Scott" J. Gackstetter

June 15, 1930 — April 25, 2021

Marvin J. “Scott” Gackstetter, 90 of Graytown, OH died Sunday, April 25, 2021 at his home under Hospice Care. He was born June 15, 1930 at home in Graytown to the late John C. and Gertrude “Gertie” (Priesman) Gackstetter. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army. On November 28, 1953 he married the former Dorothy Whiteman and she survives. Scott was a lifelong farmer where he worked for Rohloff Brothers Inc. He retired following 31 years of service from the Ottawa County and Benton Township Maintenance Department. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Elliston and was an active participant with the Ottawa County Senior Citizens. He enjoyed woodworking, working on his “Honey-Do” list, and attending horse shows. His hobbies also included watching his children and grandchildren participate in their activities. Survivors include his wife of 67 years Dorothy; sons: Scott C. Gackstetter and Kevin Gackstetter; daughters: Diana (Gary) Tabbert and Tamra (Jeff) Sinden; grandchildren: Matthew Tabbert, Slater Sinden, Seve Sinden, Alexa Avry, Ryan Gackstetter, and Ashley (Alan) Huss; and great- grandchild Avelyn Huss. He was also preceded in death by his son Brian Gackstetter in 2007; brother George Gackstetter; sisters: Olive “Polly” Harder, Juanita DiTerlizzi, and Barbara Lajti. Family and Friends are invited to attend Graveside Services at 1pm on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Elliston Cemetery. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Ottawa County 4-H.
