Martha Joan Tropf

Joan Tropf, 88, of Lakeside, died Sunday, September 8, 2013 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, OH. She was born October 26, 1924 in Pendleton, IN the daughter of Rev. J. Orr and Ruth (Fisher) Powell. Joan graduated from Taylor University in 1948 and moved to Cleveland where she met her husband Rev. Warren R. Tropf. Warren and Joan were married on March 11, 1950 and Warren preceded her in death on August 11, 2011. Joan was very active at all of Warren's churches including being the Children's choir director and part-time organist at Westlake United Methodist Church. She was also a longtime organist for Jenkins Funeral Home and most recently the organist at First United Church of Christ, Marblehead, OH. Surviving are her sons: Nathan (Carol) Tropf of Upland, IN, Dr. Thomas (Suzanne) Tropf of Findlay, OH; daughter: Lois (James) Garringer of Muncie, IN; grandchildren: Shannon (Mukul) Juneja, Lauren (Brian) Rees, Jared (Tammy) Tropf, Jonathon Tropf, Jason Tropf, Kristen Tropf, Katie Garringer, Peter Garringer, Matthew Garringer; great-grandchildren: Sonya Anne Rees, Savannah Grace Rees, Landon Timothy Tropf and Paxton Nathaniel Tropf. She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers: Paxton and John Powell and sisters: Pauline Nord and Mary Wiley. Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Lakeside United Methodist Church, Lakeside, OH where family will receive friends from 1:00pm until the time of the service in the church parlor. Memorial contributions may be given to First United Church of Christ, Marblehead, Lakeside United Methodist Church, Westlake United Methodist or Lakeside Association.
