Martha C. Baumgartner

Martha C. Baumgartner, 93, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died Sunday morning at Riverview Health Care Campus, Oak Harbor. Martha was born on January 26, 1921 in Wayne, Ohio, the daughter of the late Herman & Johanne (Dierksheide) Farwig. She was a 1938 graduate of the former Montgomery Township High School, and a 1942 graduate of Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education. On August 26, 1948, she married Carl F. Baumgartner in Oak Harbor, and he preceded her in death on September 6, 1993. Martha retired from teaching languages at Oak Harbor High School in 1982, and thereafter spent winters through 2010 in Ruskin, Florida. She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, and enjoyed needlepoint, painting, and card games with friends. Martha is survived by her daughters, Susan (Ken) Ellinger and Elaine (Fred) Conley, of Oak Harbor; sons, Chuck (Margie) Baumgartner of Swanton, Ohio, and Bob (Susie) Baumgartner, of Gregory, Michigan. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Carl, Martha was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Baumgartner, and brothers, Karl, Arnold, and Ewald Farwig. Friends are invited to call from 2-8 P.M. Tuesday at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor, where the family will be present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Stirewalt officiating. Interment will be in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor.
