Mark A. Burkholder, Sr., 53, of Port Clinton, died Thursday, January 24, 2008 at Cottage Cove Hospice Center, Oak Harbor. He was born October 11, 1954 in Port Clinton, a son of the late Earl Wayne & Verna (Lafountain) Burkholder. Mark was formerly employed at Celotex, Prime American Insurance Company, and the job he loved best, a care provider for Independent Choices. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the Port Clinton Bible Methodist Church. Mark loved camping and his companion "Tony", the Cleveland Indians and Browns, no matter how the season played out. He loved his grandchildren and was especially proud of his wife. Mark loved people in general and spreading the word of the Lord. On May 5, 1990, he married the former Treva Wahlers, and she survives. Also surviving is his son, Mark (Jamie) Burkholder, Jr., Port Clinton; daughter, Brandie (Rick) Cassel, Toledo; grandchildren, Elijah, Eian, Adam, Isaac and Jalynn; his "Mom", Vanda Wahlers, Catawba Island; sisters, Yolanda Burkholder and Debbie Beckman, both of Port Clinton; brothers, Earl Wayne Wahlers, Port Clinton and Gary Wahlers, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents; "Dad" Keith Wahlers, and a brother-in-law, Corey Wahlers. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Sunday at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton. Additional visitation will be held from 12 noon Monday until the time of services at 1 P.M. at the Port Clinton Bible Methodist Church, 150 Maple Street, Port Clinton. Rev. Deron Fourman will officiate, and Interment will be in Catawba Island Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice or the Port Clinton Bible Methodist Church.
