Mariano “Del” Delpercio, 74, of Catawba Island, died Sunday, June 17, 2007 at his residence. He was born on October 8, 1932 in Hackensack, New Jersey, the son of the late Michael and Palma (Costanzo) Delpercio. On November 16, 1952, he married Jeanne (Esposito) and she survives. Mr. Delpercio worked as a mechanical engineer at New Departure Hyatt, in Clark, New Jersey, until 1966 when he was transferred to New Departure Hyatt in Sandusky, Ohio, where he retired in 1987 after 36 years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, where he was a lector, eucharistic minister, bingo caller, and former president of the school board; member of the Catawba Island Club where he was an avid golfer; member of the Port Clinton Elks Lodge #1718 where he was very active in helping out during the annual Elks stagaroo. His hobbies included golfing, playing pinochle, bowling, walking in the annual American Heart Association fundraising walk, and spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid sports fan. Survivors include his wife: Jeanne; sons: Gary Delpercio, Sandusky, OH and Thomas Delpercio, Willoughby, OH; daughters: Lori & Nancy Delpercio, both of Delaware, OH; grandchildren: Anthony (Scotia) Delpercio, Carlie Delpercio, Alison Delpercio; great-grandchildren: Abbi Delpercio and Kamron Delpercio; brother: Michael (Barbara) Delpercio, Fredricksburg, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 20, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton. Prayers will begin at 9:30 AM Thursday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, celebrated by Reverend John C. Missler. Burial will follow at Catawba Island Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, The Diabetes Foundation, or to the Donor’s choice.
