Margaret H. Webb

Margaret Helena (Tabbert) Webb, 93 of Elmore, OH died Friday, January 26, 2018 at Riverview Health Care Campus, Oak Harbor, OH. Margaret was born on October 27, 1924 to Harvey and Pauline (Ninke) Tabbert. She graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1942 and entered the Cadet Nurse Program at Maumee Valley School of Nursing, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1945. At that point, she had been trained to serve in WWII, but as the war had ended, she began her nursing career in Labor and Delivery at Maumee Valley Hospital in Toledo, OH and later would work in the Emergency Department. She last worked at the Ottawa County Riverview Nursing Home (now Riverview Health Care Campus) as the Assistant Director of Nursing, retiring in 1987. Margaret was very happily married to Hayes I. Webb on April 19, 1952 for 58 years until his passing on May 11, 2010. Margaret is also survived by her daughters: Julie Leist of Graytown, OH and Laurel Webb of Toledo, OH; son Hayes C. (Mai) Webb of Elmore, OH; 3 grandchildren: Kendra (Chad) German, Aaron (Anna) Leist, and Charles N. Webb; 5 great- grandchildren: Trace and Shelby German, and Greyson, Grant, and Gabrielle Leist. She was also preceded by her son- in - law Kenneth Leist. Margaret's faith was always very important to her. Through difficult situations and hard times early in her life, she clung to her Lord, Jesus Christ. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Elmore, served on the Church Council as an elder for two terms and was active in Women's Guild and Honor Workers. Margaret was very proud of her family. She shared her love of the Lord with her children and saw to it that they were instructed in their faith. She enjoyed sharing her home with family and friends. Her hospitality and wonderful meals were her trademark. Margaret's dry and unexpected wit was enjoyed by many. Through the years, nurses who had worked with her thanked her for her training and mentioned they learned how to be a good nurse by watching and emulating her. A Memorial Service will begin at 11am at St. John's United Church of Christ, Elmore, OH on Saturday, February 3, 2018 with visitation beginning at 9:30am and a luncheon to follow the service. Burial will be private in Elliston Cemetery, Elliston, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Riverview Health Care Campus or Rocky Ridge/ Graytown Athletic Department.
