Malcolm H. Murray, 81 of Oak Harbor, OH passed away Monday, October 3, 2023 at his home
surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 23, 1941 in Toledo, OH to the late John Murray
and Mildred (Perrier) Metz. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On January 9,
1982 he married the former Lola Swope and she survives.
He retired in 2001 from Chrysler in Toledo. Mel was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping at
their permanent lot in Andover, OH. He loved the Buckeyes, The Browns, The Cleveland Indians, and the
Florida Gators. Those who knew him would describe him as funny and ornery. He was a member of
Shoreline Church and American Legion Post #114, both in Oak Harbor.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Lola; children: Judy (Jason) Justice of Woodstock, GA,
Ralph (Laura) Carr of Sylvania, OH, Brian (Sherron Welch) Murray of Oak Harbor, OH, Steven (Anna Mae)
Murray of Leitchfield, KY, and Brandi (Keton) Perkins of Oak Harbor, OH; grandchildren: Trudy (David
Diebert) Super, Renee (Jeff Phelan) Ward, Mandi (Mike) Doane, Austin Carr, Brian (John) Goble,
Matthew (Brittney) Holbrook, Jessica Simon, Shannon Simon, Christian (Teela) Murray, Max Perkins,
Elsie Perkins, and Corbin Perkins. Mel “Paw-Paw” also leaves behind great-grandchildren: Alanah
Estrada, Madison Phalen, Nicole Super, Leeann (Devyn Schippel) Ward, Eva Ward, James (LJ) Warner,
Grayson Doane, Landon Carr, Remi Holbrook, Miley Simon, Brie Meredith, Brayden Meredith; and a
great-great grandchild Haley Schippel. He was also surrounded by his extended family Tami & Bob
Brown, Chris & Sandra Peace, Martha Miller and the extended Perkins and Hummel Family. He was
preceded in death by his parents, brother John Murray Jr. and grandson Mark Oden Jr.
Visitation will be Friday from 4-8pm at Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service,
Oak Harbor Chapel. Funeral Services will begin at 11am on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Shoreline
Church, 729 N. Locust St., Oak Harbor with Pastor Todd Frederick officiating. Burial will be in Union
Cemetery, Oak Harbor with Military Honors. Memorial Contributions may be made to Southern Care
