Lyle L. Schlievert

Lyle L. Schlievert, 85 of Elmore, OH died Sunday, February 16, 2025 at ProMedica Bay Park Hospital, Oregon, OH following a brief illness. He was born March 14, 1939 in Elmore, OH to the late Lloyd and Laura (Epling) Schlievert and was a 1957 graduate of Harris-Elmore High School. On November 26, 1960 he married the former Karen Fondessy and she survives. Lyle worked for the former Brush Wellman Company, Elmore, but was a lifelong farmer and spent most of his working days working for Fondessy Enterprises. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elmore where he loved playing Dartball. He was also a member of the Northwest Ohio Tractor Pullers Association and Ottawa County Harness Horsemen’s Association.

Survivors include his wife Karen of Elmore; children: Michael (Mary) Schlievert of Elmore, OH and Lisa Gerwin of Bradner, OH; grandchildren: Samuel (Caitlin Crabill) Schlievert, Alyssa (Andy Cramer) Gerwin, Jane (Wallen) Augustin, and Nathan (Riley) Gerwin; great-granddaughter Lyla Gerwin, and one on the way; brother Warren (Rosemary) Schlievert of Perrysburg, OH; sisters: Elaine Gruetter of Curtice, OH and Susan Hatcher of Allen Park, MI; sister-in-law Sue Fondessy of Genoa, OH; many nieces and nephews (especially Pest). He was preceded in death by son-in-law David Gerwin; brothers-in-law Lawrence Gruetter and Darryl Fondessy and foreign exchange student/daughter Akiko Ota.

Visitation will be Friday from 2-8pm at Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore-Genoa Chapel. Funeral Services will begin at 11am on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elmore, OH. Burial will be in Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery, Elmore, OH.
