Luther Marion Dick

Luther Marion Dick, 93, a long time resident of Catawba Island, died October 17, 2013 in Avon Park, Florida. Mr. Dick was born in Hogue, Kentucky, April 11, 1920. He was the third son of John Thomas Dick and Mary McWhorter Dick. He was married to Jessie Juanita Lefler, October 4, 1939. The couple moved to Ohio and became residents of Catawba Island in 1946 when Luther became one of the first employees of New Departure Division of General Motors in Sandusky. Mr. Dick would continue to work there until his retirement. After retirement, Luther and Jessie would live on Catawba during summers, and in Avon Park in the winter. Mr. Dick is survived by daughter Betty Jean Hall of Orient, Ohio and son David and daughter in law Susie of Oak Point, Texas. Luther had four granddaughters and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie and granddaughter Lori Jean. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton Chapel where visitation will be held Tuesday from 1:00 until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Catawba Island Cemetery. Pastor Bruce Batchelor-Glader will be officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the donor's choice.
