Lucile Tank

Lucile E. Tank, 96, of Elmore, died Monday, April 17, 2006 at Riverview Senior Health Care Campus. She was born June 7, 1909, the daughter of Otto and Louise (Roebke) Tank. She graduated from Harris- Elmore High School in 1927 and the Sherwood Music School in Chicago, IL. in 1929, where she was awarded a silver medal for superior scholarship in music. She completed a 4 year program in 2 years. A teacher of piano, organ and voice for over 50 years, she taught at the former Bach Conservatory of Music in Toledo for 27 years. Miss Tank taught the blind, as well, and also taught four years at Christ Community Christian Academy. She also taught classical piano and organ at Great Lakes Piano and Organ. She sang for several years with the Toledo Choral Society and was an organist and choir director at many area and local churches. Lucille was invited to play at Robert Schuller’s Chrystal Cathedral. Her hobby was composing music and writing poetry, some of which have been published. She composed the “Woodmore Band March”, which was given in her honor to the Woodmore School, her alma mater. Many hours of service were given at area nursing homes and hospitals. She was a member of St John United Church of Christ in Elmore and its women’s organizations; she was the past president of the Elmore Literary Club and a 50 year member of Riverview Nursing Home Auxiliary. Surviving are her cousins and many devoted friends. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, April 22, 2006 at St. John United Church of Christ with Rev. Ed Heilman officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore, OH. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Elmore, OH.
