Louise L. Worthington, 91, of Port Clinton, died peacefully at Magruder Hospital on February 2, 2022 with her family present throughout her care. She was born on April 25, 1930 in Port Clinton, OH to Gilbert and Lorine (Sonnichsen) Hofacker. She graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1948 and married Ron Rhode, May 1, 1949. Together they raised three children. Louise was widowed at age 39 and later married Walter Worthington. Having held a variety of jobs over the years, she was a waitress as a youngster, secretary for the Port Clinton Credit Bureau, nurse's aide, welder and most recently, a clerk at Green Drug. Following Walter's death, Louise's focus was her family and her work. She was active in Peace Lutheran Church serving on numerous committees, church council and circle over the years. She was a volunteer at her voting precinct, a volunteer for the Ottawa County Museum and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a loyal Port Clinton Redskin supporting her children and grandchildren by being present at games whenever possible. For 27 years, Louise's best friend and dear companion in life was Jim Fulkert. They enjoyed life together sharing meals, playing cards, taking photos and being an active member in each other's families. Jim's family became a second and equally important family to Louise. Louise is survived by her children: Richard (Janet) Rhode (Port Clinton) and Cynthia (Gary) Durdel (Catawba Island), grandchildren; Jared (Amber) Rhode, Matthew (Hayley) Rhode (Strongsville) and Bree Frick, (Columbus) and great-grandchildren; Fischer Rhode, Lakely Rhode (Port Clinton) and Nora Rhode (Strongsville); and daughter-in-law, Kim Rhode (Donn). She is also survived by sister Joann Fleming, brothers Ron (Marlene) Hofacker, Eugene (Jesse) Hofacker and Gilbert Lowell Hofacker and in-laws; Bill Freimark, Edna Hofacker and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives. Louise was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Rhode (1970), husband Walter Worthington (1986), companion Jim Fulkert (2015) stepson Donn Rhode, sisters, Rosalie Hipp, Pat Freimark and brother, Richard Hofacker. Louise requested no calling hours or celebration of life to be held and requested her cremains be laid to rest with her late husband, Ron, in a private family service at a future date.
