Louis E. Wirebaugh

Louis E. Wirebaugh, 83, of Elmore, OH, died Friday, May 12, 2006 at Riverview Health Care Campus, Oak Harbor, OH. He was born in Bradner, OH on January 3, 1923, the son of the late Walter R. & Glada F. (Hutton) Wirebaugh. Mr. Wirebaugh was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific and participated in the Battle of Iwo Jima. He was a graduate of the former Cleveland College of Embalming, and operated the Wirebaugh Funeral Home in Ottawa, OH for several years. Mr. Wirebaugh was a carpenter, and was an employee of the Lathrop Corporation where he was the project manager for the Davis-Besse cooling tower, and additions to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, and The Toledo Hospital, among others. He was an Elder in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and served the former R.L.D.S. Church in Carroll Township for several years. Mr. Wirebaugh was an active member and Past Commander of the Port Clinton Power Squadron, and was a member of Ottawa Lodge, F. & A.M. and Zenobia Shrine. A fan of Bluegrass music, he played the guitar and banjo in a bluegrass band for several years. Mr. Wirebaugh married the former Naomi J. Smith on May 30, 1947, and she survives. Also surviving is his son, D. Robert (Sandra) Wirebaugh, Oak Harbor; daughters, Karen S. O’Brien, Bradner, OH, and Cyndi (Fritz) Parman, Elmore, OH; sisters, Helen (Richard) Ziegler, Toledo, OH, and Laurene (Harlan) Lee, Florida; 4 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter and an infant sister. Friends may call from 2-8 P.M. Monday and Tuesday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore, OH, where the family will be present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Bradner, OH, with Elder Richard Ziegler officiating. Interment will be in Bradner Cemetery, with a luncheon following at the church. Power Squadron services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Monday and Masonic Services will be held at 7:00 P.M.
