Louis E. "Louie" Young

Louis E. Young "Louie", 93 of Oak Harbor, OH died Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Bellevue Hospital, Bellevue, OH. He was born June 4, 1924 in Carroll Township, Oak Harbor, OH to the late Chester and Amanda (Dornbusch) Young. He was a 1943 graduate of Salem-Oak Harbor High School. On March 22, 1952 he married the former A. Carol Lowman who preceded him in death May 26, 1995. He was a veteran of the United States Navy (Seabee Maintenance Unit) during WW II being stationed at Barbers Point Naval Air Station and Midway Island. Louis retired as a foreman from Formetal Incorporated in 1984. He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #114 and V.F.W. Post #8732 all of Oak Harbor. He was an avid golfer. During his winters in Florida he routinely participated in the Senior Games. He enjoyed working out in the yard and especially enjoyed watching high school and college sports. Survivors include his children: Linda (Stephen) Mapus of Clyde, OH and Jeff (Jane) Young of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren: Carrie (Taylor) Johnson, Emily (Louis) Fernandez, and Jared Young; great- grandchildren: Jonathan, Isabella, Benjamin, and Wesley; and sister Jane (Phillip) Fehr, of Oak Harbor; 2 nieces and 2 nephews. He was also preceded in death by his brother Warren Young. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-8pm at the Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor Chapel. Funeral Service will begin at 11am Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Funeral Home with the Rev. David Hendricks officiating. Burial will be in Salem Township, Oak Harbor. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church Endowment Fund or the American Heart Association.
