Loris L. Vanness

Loris L. Van Ness, 91, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio. She was born in Oak Harbor on June 21, 1919, the daughter of Otto P. & Clara L. (Hetrick) Rose, and attended Oak Harbor Schools. In 1937, Loris married Charles F. Van Ness, and he preceded her in death on June 30, 1985. They were avid campers and spent many weekends traveling in their camper. Loris also enjoyed embroidering and crocheting, but especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Richard Van Ness, and Charles (Irene) Van Ness, both of Oak Harbor; grandchildren, Bob (Laura) Van Ness, Kelly (Alan) Berndt, Darrin (Samantha) Van Ness, Tammy (Greg) Newman, and Michelle (Justin) Latez. Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. Loris was preceded in death by her parents, a step brother, Ivan Miller; grandson, Darryl Van Ness, and daughter-in-law, Verna Van Ness. The family will receive friends from 2-8 P.M. Friday at Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday. The Rev. Fr. David L. Ritchie will officiate, and interment will follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or to a charity of the donor's choice.
