Loren W. Lohr, 86, of Elmore, OH passed away at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, OH, on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 following a sudden illness. He was born on September 23, 1919 in Elmore, to the late William and Carrie (Weis) Lohr. He was a 1937 graduate of the former Harris-Elmore High School. On September 16, 1944, he married the former Dolores Franck of Oak Harbor, who he met while playing in Jimmy Franck & Ken Myers Bands. She preceded him in death on December 29, 2001. Loren studied trumpet with Elwin Benge in Chicago and played with the Dixie Flyers, Earl Warnke Quartet, Wendell Jones Trio, and the Fred Wood Orchestra. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Elmore. He also served in the United States Army during WW II as a member of the Army Band. He was employed at Sun Oil Company, Toledo for 37 years. He enjoyed playing golf at Sugar Creek Golf Course in Elmore. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Marge and Gary Whiting of Elmore, granddaughter Mindy (Burton) Haren of Dublin, OH. and sister Eunice Luelf of Holland, OH. He was preceded in death by his wife; brothers, Clarence Lohr and Wilbert Lohr, and sisters, Helen Giesler, Ruth Wolf, Freda Shaffer, and Emma Deitemeyer. The family will receive friends from 4-8 P.M. Wednesday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am, Thursday at the Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Union Cemetery, Elmore. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ.
