Lois M. Redd

Lois M. Redd, 81, of Lakeside, OH, and formerly of Bellevue, OH, died Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at Arbors of Clyde. She was born March 29, 1925 in Dennison, OH, the daughter of the late Emerson and Iva (Boyd) McMillan. She married Robert “Bob” Redd on August 1, 1948 in Bellevue, and he survives. Lois graduated from Dennison High School in 1943 and The Ohio State University in 1946 with a Bachelors Degree in Home Economics. She taught Home Economics at Bellevue High School until she retrained and became an elementary teacher. She taught elementary grades at Thompson, York, Pike and Ellis Schools. Before her retirement in 1980, she was teaching kindergarten at Ellis School. She was Bellevue City School’s first cafeteria manager. She also worked for WLEC radio, Sandusky, OH as the Bellevue Representative for the area community contact program. Shortly after retirement, she spent 4 years serving on the Bellevue Board of Education and on the United Church of Christ Day Care Board. She was a 40 year member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Bellevue and has been a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church for the past 17 years. She and Bob moved to Lakeside in 1987 and then to Otterbein Northshore Retirement Community. Lois volunteered at the church, purchasing books for the library along with many other projects. She was a charter member of Sorosis of Bellevue; member of Mary Martha Circle at Lakeside United Methodist Church; Stephen Ministries at Lakeside Church and a member of Antiquarians of Lakeside. Surviving are her husband Bob; sons: John (Sue) of Bellevue, OH, Jim (Betsy) of Archbold, OH, David (Julia) of Canton, OH, Dan (Melinda) of Lawrenceville, GA; nine grandchildren: Megan, Elizabeth, Michael, Bobby, Andy, Ian, Steven, Jack and Christopher; 2 step-grandsons: Anthony and Vinny. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Friday at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Rd. Lakeside-Marblehead. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 1, 2006 at Lakeside United Methodist Church, 450 Central Ave., Lakeside, with the Rev. Jerry Phelps officiating. Following the services, a luncheon will be served at the church. Interment services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Bellevue Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Lakeside United Methodist Church or The Lakeside Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Peninsula Chapel of the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home.
