Lois A. DeWitt, 89, of Oak Harbor, OH, died Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor. She was born in Elmore, OH on April 18, 1927, the daughter of the late Eugene & Elizabeth (Schroeder) McCarty. Lois was a graduate of the former Harris-Elmore High School, and graduated from Bowling Green State University. She taught at Toledo City Schools for 35 years, retiring from East Side Central School, having also taught at Marshall and Riverside Schools. Lois was a member of St. Paul-Trinity United Methodist Church, Elmore, where she was active in the United Methodist Women and the Friendly Center in Toledo. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Elmore. Lois was the consummate hostess and loved doing things for others. She enjoyed travelling and was always happy to get a pizza from Pizza Hut! Her greatest joy however, was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. On August 8, 1958, Lois married Earl DeWitt, and they just celebrated their 58th anniversary. Earl survives, along with their children, James (Reggie) DeWitt, Elliston, OH, and Brenda (Jim) Sleek, Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Ken (Maggie) Miller, Fremont, Kelly (Jay) Angel, Elmore, Tonya (Craig) Parman, Oak Harbor, and Brian (Aimee) Bach, Elmore. Also surviving are 3 step grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 4 step great-grandchildren. Lois was preceded in death by her brother, James McCarty. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Sunday at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore-Genoa Chapel, 19550 W. S.R. 51, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday. Pastor Bill Blue of Shoreline Church in Oak Harbor will officiate, and interment will be in Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery, Elmore. There will be no luncheon following the services.
