Lloyd "Bud" Kelly

September 3, 1943 — August 5, 2021

Lloyd “Bud” Kelly 77 of Hernando, FL and Marblehead, OH passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, August 5 2021 after an extended battle with cancer. Born September 3, 1943 in Marion, OH to Floyd Kelly and Donna Maxine (Gebby) Kelly. He graduated Ridgedale High School (Morral, OH) in 1961, attended The Ohio State University, and served in the Army Reserves. Lloyd was a mechanical draftsman for Fairfield Service Co. (Marion, OH), National Machinery (Tiffin, OH) and National Lime and Stone (Carey, OH). Preceded in death by his parents and sister Donna Lou (Gene) Craycraft. Survived by siblings Cheryl Lemley and Larry (Denise) Kelly. He married his high school sweetheart, Linda (Borland) Kelly on May 23, 1964 and was father to two wonderful children: Sean (Amy) Kelly of Port Clinton and Chandra (David) Bryan of Marblehead. He was a grandfather to Brooke, Blake and Braedon Kelly; Trey, Tate and Olivia Carnicom; and Josh and Garrett Bryan. Lloyd was friends with everyone he met and was always there to lend a hand to anyone that needed it. His passion was fishing and boating and he shared this with his family and friends every chance he could get. He never knew a stranger and loved to talk to everyone even those who were hesitant to talk, he would "kill them with kindness." He was very kind and generous and loved to help his neighbors putting his own needs on the backburner, sometimes to Linda's dismay. He had many special talents such as running out of gas, shooting his own butt with a nail gun, being passed by his own trailer tires on the highway, strapping large items to the roof of his car, sleeping at the wheel of his boat and cars (while in motion) and having one of the largest collections of fishing poles and items that he will "need someday." He led a full life of enjoying his family and friends, travel, boating, fishing and sometimes just driving around or having coffee and a Klondike bar with neighbors. There are many stories to share about those he taught to ski and fish as well as the huge fish fries he used to have. When people would ask how he was doing, he would reply "not too bad for an old guy" or "haven't missed a meal yet!" Even when his health was failing and he became paralyzed from the chest down, he did not complain and was always thankful for such a full and happy life. Per Lloyds request, the immediate family will place his ashes in his favorite fishing spot near Kelleys Island. In lieu of flowers, please donate fishing poles, tackle boxes, etc. to any local youth fishing tournaments, monetary donation to a local cancer support center such as Cancer Services in Sandusky, OH-cancerservicespatients@gmail.com or feel free to proudly donate a United States flag to anyone who lives in the U.S. and is not flying one! Neidecker, Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Peninsula Chapel is handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.neideckercrosserpriesman.com .
