Lillian M. Kontak

Lillian M. Kontak, 93, of Oregon, Ohio, and formerly of Elmore, Ohio, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at her home. She was born in Convoy, Ohio on July 31, 1915, a daughter of the late Henry & Martha (Bauer) Steinbauer. Lillian married Carl F. Kontak on November 1, 1947 and he preceded her in death on July 10, 1999. A longtime, active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Elmore, Lillian was also a member of the Ladies Aid of the church. She was a branch secretary for the former Aid Association for Lutherans (now Thrivent), and was a volunteer at St. Charles Mercy Hospital, Oregon. Lillian is survived by her children, Carl (Dot) Kontak, Ballwin, Missouri, Roger (Kim) Kontak, Overland Park, Kansas, and Sally (Larry) Sletten, Ferryville, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Todd Sletten, Loren Sletten, Andrew Kontak, and Kristi Kontak. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Rev. Herbert Steinbauer, and Paul Steinbauer, and sisters, Gertrude Steinbauer, and Mildren Buechner. Family and friends are invited to call from 4-8 P.M. Monday at Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Elmore, where friends may call after 10:00 A.M. Tuesday. The Rev. Stephen Lutz will officiate, and interment will be in Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Homes Society or Trinity Lutheran Church.
