Lester H. Smith, Jr. 64, of Oak Harbor, OH, died Saturday, January 28, 2006, at St. Charles Mercy Hospital, Oregon, OH. He was born in Oak Harbor on May 9, 1941, a son of the late Lester H. & Inez (Floro) Smith, and was a 1959 graduate of Oak Harbor High School. On June 24, 1961, Lester married the former Edna Friesner, and she preceded him in death on November 17, 1999. He was a deputy for the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office for many years, and was a member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor. Lester is survived by his son, Thomas M. (April) Smith, Port Clinton, OH; daughter, Kimberlee (Michael) Stone, Oak Harbor; sister, Joyce Nixon, Oak Harbor; brothers, Dale Smith, North Carolina, and Richard Smith, Toledo, OH; grandchildren, Josh, Drew, and Katelyn Stone, and Amelia and Anthony Smith. He was preceded in death by a sister, Delores Smith. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, where the family will receive friends after 10 A.M. Tuesday. The Rev. Cheryl Wessel will officiate, and interment will be in Rushau Cemetery, Carroll Township. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church.
