Leslie W. Bowyer

Leslie W. Bowyer, 86, of Oak Harbor, Ohio died Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at Riverview Senior Healthcare Campus. He was born on May 22, 1920, in Goodview, Virginia, the son of the late Mack Henry & Fannie Bett (St. Clair) Bowyer. On August 20, 1946, he married Florence Elizabeth Knodel, and she survives. He was employed as a construction worker through the Construction and General Laborers Union Local 480 of Sandusky, having retired in 1982. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. Surviving are his wife, Florence; daughter: Fannie (Jack) Walters, Vickery, OH; son, Leslie H. (Kathy) Bowyer, Oak Harbor; daughter, Darla (Paul) Fisher, Oak Harbor; step daughters, Bertha Gracely & Marcia Chaffin, both of Port Clinton; and Janet (Harold) Skinner, Livonia, Michigan; 26 Grandchildren; 59 Great Grandchildren; 33 Great-Great Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great-Great Granddaughter; brothers, Aubrey & Clarence Bowyer of Virginia; and sister, Fannie Mae Caldwell, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents; two step daughters, Carol Dalton and Elizabeth Moyreah Nesbitt; brothers, Thurman & Robert Bowyer; and sisters, Alice Quarles; Josie White; and Pearl Foster. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 14, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton, where the VFW Post #2480 will conduct military services at 7:00 PM. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 16th, at 3:00 PM, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ronald Huff officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
