LeRoy Dean Sauvey, 82, of Lakeside, died Friday July 16, 2010 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky. He was born August 11, 1927 in Cleveland, the son of Ralphe Sauvey and Mary Ellen (Seinbenhaar) Sauvey-Kilgus. Roy was a veteran of the US Army during WWII serving in Alaska and New Orleans. He retired from the Ford Motor Company in Sandusky after 36 years of service. Roy belonged to the UAW 1213 of Sandusky and the Sandusky Maritime Museum. A gifted woodworker, Roy especially enjoyed making rocking horses, cradles, quilt stands and rocking chairs, much of which was given to family and friends. On October 16, 1960 Roy married Barbara J (Hast) and she survives along with his daughters Judy (Rick) Klotz of Norwalk and Jan (Steve) Butler of Johnson City, TN; a grandson Eric (Amy) Klotz of Nolensville, TN and great grandson Zachary Klotz. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by a brother Frank "Chic" Sauvey. A celebration of Roy's life will be held starting at 1 pm Saturday September 11 at Sackett Cemetery followed by a reception at the Fountain Inn in Lakeside.
