Leonard M. "Lenny" Appelhans, 50 of Oak Harbor, OH died suddenly, July 3, 2011 in Oak Harbor. He was born November 30, 1960 in Port Clinton, OH to Martin J. and Beulah M. (Burmeister) Appelhans. He was a 1978 graduate of Oak Harbor High School and received his Associate Degree in 1980 from Owens College in Sales/Marketing & Accounting. Lenny was currently employed in the Accounting Department at Riverview Health Care Campus in Oak Harbor. He previously was employed as an Accountant for 28 years at the former Toledo Metcalf Airport. He had numerous memberships to various clubs and organized many events throughout the Oak Harbor Community. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, current sports writer for the Ottawa County Exponent, commissioner of the Running Bear Fantasy Football League, Timekeeper for the Oak Harbor Basketball Games, the "Voice" of the Oak Harbor Rockets for Friday Night Football Games, announced the Apple Festival Parade, announced the OH Athletic Boosters Reverse Raffles, Lenny's OSUGA Golf League, played in and organized the Oak Harbor Church Softball League as well as the Adult Softball League, Secretary/treasurer of Wednesday Night Bowling League; just to name a few. Survivors include his mother Beulah of Oak Harbor, great-Aunt Ella Mae Burmeister of Oak Harbor, several cousins, and special friend Brenda. He was preceded in death by his father. Visitation will be 12- 9pm Sunday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor. Funeral Services will be at 11am, Monday, July 11, 2011 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Keith A. Hunsinger officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Ev.
