Leona M. Monak

Leona M. Monak, 87, of Marblehead, OH died Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Providence Care Center, Sandusky, OH. She was born December 3, 1926 in Marblehead, OH the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Klatcik) Skrinak, Sr. She married Kenneth L. Monak on June 2, 1956 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 2009. Mrs. Monak worked in the office at Biro Manufacturing, Magruder Hospital, and Standard Products. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was active as a Eucharistic minister, a lector, a member of the Altar & Rosary Society, weekend mass collection counter and saying the Rosary at Otterbein North Shore Retirement Village. She also enjoyed taking meals to the homebound. Surviving are her sons: Timothy (Annie) Monak of Chicago, IL, Russell L. Monak of Columbus, OH, Gary Monak of Cincinnati, OH; daughter: LeAnn (David) Schoen of Perrysburg, OH; six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers: Raymond Skrinak, Andrew Skrinak, Jr., Francis Skrinak, Clarence "Sam" Skrinak; sisters: Clara Skrinak, Helen Meter and Josephine Huskey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Dan Ring at 10:00 am Saturday, June 28, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead, OH where visitation will be held Saturday from 9:00am until the time of the mass. Additional visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 7:00 pm at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Rd., LakesideMarblehead, OH with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Marblehead, OH.
