Leon C. Weis

Leon C. Weis, 85, of Fremont, Ohio, and formerly of Elmore, Ohio, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio. He was born on August 19, 1925 in Ottawa County, the son of Clayton & Martha Weis. Leon was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the battleship North Carolina, in the South Pacific. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Elmore, and was a retired quality control manager for Sun Oil Company, Toledo. On March 24, 1983, he married the former Pauline A. Wheeler, and she survives. Also surviving is his son, Michael (Lynda L.) Weis, Cincinnati, OH; stepsons, Ronald E. (Ruth) Davis, and Leroy E. Davis, both of Fremont, Ohio; stepdaughters, Carol S. (Chet A.) Fry, Fremont, Ohio, and Karen (Tommy) Tucker, Lake Wales, Florida; grandchildren, Tabitha (Michael) Alfano, Newark, Ohio, Corey A. Weis, and Brittany L. Weis, both of Cincinnati; great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Destanie Massey; 11 step-grandchildren, and many step-great-grandchildren. Leon was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma (Wilmeth) Weis; daughter, Cynthia A. Weis, and stepson, William E. Davis. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. Friday at Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore-Genoa Chapel, 19550 West State Route 51, Elmore. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday at Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery with the Rev. John W. Bock officiating. There will be a luncheon at the church following the graveside service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
