Lawrence P. Zura

Lawrence Peter Zura, 60, of Marblehead, died Sunday October 22, 2006 at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky. He was born November 20, 1945 in Marblehead, the son of Peter and Julia (Holodnak) Zura. Larry was a graduate of Lakeside High School in 1963 and Tiffin University with a degree in business management. He was a Veteran of the US Navy reserves for four years. Larry was an accountant for Chrysler Plastics in Sandusky for 25 years retiring in 1993. After retirement, he kept busy running Younker’s Cottages, a family owned business until its sale in November of 2003. Larry was an avid fisherman and OSU Fan. He enjoyed being with his family and friends, and especially the seasonal renters who returned yearly. Surviving are his wife Janis (Younker) whom he married on December 28, 1968; the joys of his life – son Bradley Zura of Sandusky; nieces Marla (Zura) Harrison of Sandusky and Pamela (Ilsley) Brown of Irmo, SC; nephews Jeff Ilsley of Irmo, SC and Mark Zura of Medina; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Alan, brothers Dennis and Norman, grandparents and aunts and uncles. Visitation will be conducted from 3 – 8 pm Thursday at the Neidecker, LeVeck and Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Vernon Palo will officiate. Burial will follow in Sackett Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stein Hospice or the Donor’s choice.
