Laurel R. Damschroder

Laurel R. (Streiffert) Damschroder, 92, of Elmore, OH, died Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Otterbein Portage Valley Retirement Center, Pemberville, OH. She was born November 13, 1913 in Elmore, OH, to the late Otto and Dora (Ernsthausen) Streiffert. After graduating from Bowling Green State University, she was employed by Harris- Elmore Schools as a teacher. She taught Home Economics for 27 years retiring in 1971. On December 27, 1934 she married Lincoln C. Damschroder who preceded her in death on July 13, 2003. She was a member of St. Paul Trinity United Methodist Church, Elmore. She also had memberships in Eastern Star, Farm Bureau, Grange, United Methodist Women, and Greater Toledo Artist Guild. Laurel enjoyed playing shuffleboard at Lakeside, being an artist where she sewed, crochet, painted porcelain dolls, and made quilts, jewelry, and a grandmother clock. Survivors include sons Keith (Judy) Damschroder of Elmore, and Linden (Claudia) Damschroder of Wilmington, OH, brother Francis “Dick” Streiffert of Thomasville, GA, Sister- In- Law Juanita Streiffert of Oak Harbor, OH, grandchildren Michael (Cindy) Damschroder, Sherry (Tom) Robey, Brian (Beth) Damschroder, Mark (Alise) Damschroder, and great- grandchildren Ryan, Kayla, Paul, Anna, Cara, Drew, Emma, and Ella. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers John Streiffert and Otto Streiffert Jr. Visitation will be Friday from 2-9pm, with the family present from 2-4 &7-9pm at the Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 21, 2006 at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Damschroder officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Elmore. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Trinity United Methodist Church.
