Laura M. Foust, 88, of Oak Harbor, OH, died Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor, under the care of Stein Hospice. She was born in Rocky Ridge, OH on March 31, 1928, a daughter of Clarence & Nelta (Parman) Schafer. A 1946 graduate of Salem-Oak Harbor High School, Laura helped plan class reunions and was class secretary for many years. She attended Tiffin University and was a secretary for Hinde & Dauch Paper Company, Sandusky, OH, and retired as secretary of the Ottawa County Fair Board. An active member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor, Laura was a former member of two guilds, taught vacation Bible school, and was a member of the Senior Choir. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron of the former Oak Harbor Chapter #131. She was a current member of Tiffin Chapter #189, O.E.S., Tiffin, OH. Laura was an active member of the Port Clinton Mothers of Twins, where she was a past president. She was Mother of the Year twice, and was a member and past president of the Ohio Federation of Mothers of Twins Clubs. Laura was a member and treasurer of the Harbor Lights Senior Citizens group. She was a proud poll worker for many years, and was a Cub Scout Den mother, Brownie, and 4-H leader. Laura enjoyed planning and cooking large family dinners, and canned and froze fruits and vegetables every year. She learned to sew at age 40 and loved doing crafts, especially plastic canvas and folded star hot pads. On March 28, 1952, she married John W. Foust in Sandusky, OH, and he preceded her in death March 14, 2007. She is survived by her children, Thomas J. (Susan) Foust, Peru, IL, Kristine A. Lagger, Toledo, OH, Jane A. (Jeff) Myerholtz, Joan M. (Terry) Kline, Timothy P. (Karen) Foust and Ted A. Foust, all of Oak Harbor; grandchildren, Kevin Foust, Molly (John) Studneski, Tony Myerholtz, Stacy (Tom) Barron, Jonathan (Kendra) Foust, Stephanie (Casey) Birr, Jaclyn (Matt) Hermann, Tanner (Leandra) Myerholtz, Gregory Foust, Hannah Myerholtz, and Catherine Foust; and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Lois Deitzel, and niece, Lynn Deitzel, both of Oak Harbor. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Winona Schafer; brother-in-law, Frederick "Fritz" Deitzel, and nephew, David Deitzel. The family will receive friends from 2-8 P.M. Thursday at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor. Rev. David A. Voll will officiate, and interment will follow at Elliston Cemetery, Elliston, OH. Following the services, a luncheon will be served at the church.
