L. Dennis Krebs

L. Dennis "Denny" Krebs, 70, of Elmore, Ohio, finished his stairway to heaven on Monday, March 11, 2012 at Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania, Ohio. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on January 30, 1943, a son of Henry & Zuleen (Richards) Krebs. Denny was a 1962 graduate of Westwood High School, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in Germany. He was a carpenter working out of Local #1138 for 33 years, and was self-employed as a painter prior to that. Denny was a parishioner of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Gibsonburg, Ohio. He was a member of American Legion Post #279 in Elmore, where he served as commander three times. A past member of Harris-Elmore Volunteer Fire Department, Denny also coached Little League baseball and softball. An avid wood carver, he was a member of the Black Swamp Woodcarvers and the International Woodfowl Carver's Association. Denny enjoyed traveling, fishing, and hunting, but especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. On October 1, 1966, he married the former Susan Romaker in Deshler, Ohio, and she survives. Also surviving is his son, Anthony (Lisa) Krebs, Elmore; daughter, Krissy (Kim) Krebs, Cleveland, Ohio; brother, Henry "Butch" (Dona) Krebs, Van Buren, Ohio; sisters, Durleen (Tom) Morlock, Perrysburg, Ohio, and twins, Jerrie Hubbs, Oregon, Ohio, and Janet Cavanaugh, Custar, Ohio. Also surviving are his grandchildren, D.J., Shaina, Nick, Nathan, and Kennedy, great-grandchild, Lindsay, and many nieces & nephews. Denny was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Florence Krebs; and brothers-in-law, Mike Cavanaugh and Jack Hubbs. Friends and family are invited to call from 2-8 P.M. Thursday at Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore-Genoa Chapel, 19550 W. S.R. 51. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Friday, March 15, 2013 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 317 E. Madison St., Gibsonburg, Ohio. Rev. Theodore J. Miller will officiate, and interment will be in St. Louis Cemetery, Custar, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, American Legion Post #279, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
