Kenneth H. Darr, 83, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died Monday evening at Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor. He was born near Kingsway, Ohio on February 4, 1927, a son of Stan & Omelia (Plank) Darr. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Darr served on the U.S.S. Arkansas and the U.S.S. Owens in the Pacific. He was an active member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor, and was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Darr was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 8732 and the John A. Fader Post #114 of the American Legion, both in Oak Harbor. He was also a member of S.C.R.A.P. and was a member and past president of the Oak Harbor Conservation Club. In 1972, he received the president of the year award from the conservation clubs. An avid gardener, Mr. Darr greatly enjoyed tending to his yard. In 1952 he married the former Avanell Fick, and she survives. Also surviving are his children, Gregory (Kelly) Darr, Clyde, OH, Rebecca Madison, and Jeffery (Candice) Darr, both of Oak Harbor; brother, Alvin "Dutch" Darr, Kingsway, OH; and grandchildren, Nicholas Darr, Cynthia (Cean) Lyons, Deborah (Michael) Marquez, Jennifer Madison, Victoria Madison, and David Madison. Also surviving are 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leonard, Richard, and Willford Darr; and sister, Margaret Winke. Friends may call from 2-8 P.M. Thursday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, where the family will be present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor, where V.F.W Post #8732 and American Legion Post #114 will conduct graveside rites. Following the graveside service, a luncheon will take place in the undercroft of St. Boniface Church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Boniface Church or St. Joseph's Schools, Fremont, Ohio.
