Kenneth G. Leist

Kenneth G. Leist, 69 of Graytown, OH died Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Cleveland Clinic following a lengthly illness. He was born August 10, 1948 in Columbus, OH to the late Rev. Earl and Selena (Walter) Leist. He was a 1966 graduate of Harris- Elmore High School and received his Bachelors of Education from the Bowling Green State University. On October 21, 1977 he married Julie Webb and she survives. Kenny retired in 2008 as a teacher for Vanguard in Fremont, OH. Following his retirement he continued to substitute almost every day until he got sick. He served as a Genoa Police Officer for a few years, and spent over 30 years serving the people of Benton Township either as an employee or Trustee. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Elliston, OH where he was very active. Being a ministers son, he started teaching Sunday School while he was still in High School and also served as the Church Historian. Kenny was an avid stamp collector and Bowling Green Falcon fan. He also served in the Ottawa County Republican Central Committee. He enjoyed his family and politics. Survivors include his wife Julie of Graytown; children Aaron W. (Anna) Leist of Graytown and Kendra M. (Chad) German of Graytown; grandchildren: Trace & Shelby German and Greyson, Grant, and Gabrielle Leist; brothers E. Randy (Kathleen) Leist of West Chester, OH and James (Sandra) Leist of Celina, OH; and mother- in- law Margaret Webb; nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-8pm at the Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore- Genoa Chapel, 19550 W. State Route 51, Elmore. Funeral Services will begin at 11am Friday, December 22, 2017 at Zion United Methodist Church, Elliston with Pastor Diana Mathias officiating and family will receive friends beginning at 10am. Burial will be in Elliston Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Zion United Methodist Church or Graytown Park. The family would also like to thank the Neurological Departments of the Cleveland Clinic for everything they were able to do for Kenny.
