Kenneth Edward Joy

October 1, 1950 — September 9, 2023

Kenneth Joy, 72, of Marblehead, passed away on September 9, 2023 at Providence Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio. Ken was born October 1, 1950 in Adrian, Michigan, to Lowell and Virginia (Boyer) Joy and moved to Lakeside, Ohio, when he was one year old.

After graduating from Danbury High School in 1968, Ken attended the University of Toledo where he met his future wife, Sue Ann Beaverson. The two married and returned to the Lakeside area in 1972.

Ken was a member of the Lakeside United Methodist Church, where he and his wife were youth advisors for many years. In his early years, Ken also served as commander of the Port Clinton Power Squadron and as a volunteer EMT / firefighter.

Ken worked alongside his family at Lakeside Marine for many years, first as a mechanic and later as a manager and a boat salesman. He fulfilled his lifelong dream when he owned and managed a fleet of semi-trucks. Happiest behind the wheel, Ken eventually combined his passion with the family business and delivered pleasure boats throughout the United States.

Ken, a true friend to many, was always on the go. He enjoyed sailing, boating, snowmobiling and over-the-road motorcycle trips with family and friends. At home, Ken was most often found in the garage readying a vehicle for its next adventure.

Ken is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sue Ann; his children, Sarah (Rob) Moore, Jacob Joy and Laura Joy; his grandchildren, Robbie and Clara Moore and Asher and Ari Joy; his mother, Virginia Joy; his father, Lowell (Elaine) Joy; his siblings, Kathie Joy and Keith (Kathy) Joy; his sisters-in-laws Julie Joy and Carol (Marc) Small and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ken was preceded in death by his brother, Reverend W. Kent Joy.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Neidecker, Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Rd, Marblehead, Ohio 43440. A private interment ceremony will follow at a later date.
