Katherine J. Stinson

Katherine J.L. Stinson, 84 of Fremont, OH died Monday, March 4, 2024 at her home under the care of her family and Hospice. She was born April 1, 1939 in Elmore, OH the daughter of Jennie Barkhau. Katherine married Jim Bahnsen and later divorced. She remarried in 1991 to Joseph Stinson of Fremont, OH. They enjoyed many years of traveling the United States. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports. Spending time with her great-granddaughter over the past year has brought her the most joy.

Katherine retired from the Sandusky County Board of Developmental Disabilities after 33 years where she worked in the School of Hope and SANDCO Industries. She was still employed at Frisch’s Big Boy in Fremont, where she had worked for them for the past 56 years.

Katherine was a graduate of Harris-Elmore High School and a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Elmore.

Survivors include her daughter: Vickie Strickland, granddaughter Maddion Strickland, grandson Ty Strickland, and great-granddaughter Mallory Kelly all of Elmore, OH; step-daughters: Linda Smith of Sunbury, OH; Pat (Tom) Connolly of West Cheaster, PA, and Carolyn (Greg) Kimmel of Toledo, OH; cousins: Terry (Chris) Barnhouse and Randy Barnhouse of Elmore, OH; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother Jennie, brother Paul Barkhau, husband Joseph Stinson, and cousin Norman Barnhouse.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 11a – 1p at Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore-Genoa Chapel. Funeral Services will begin at 1pm, Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery.
