Karen S. Avers

Karen S. Avers, 65 of Elmore, OH died suddenly Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, OH. She was born May 10, 1946 in Fremont, OH to the late Harold and Madeline (Lohrbach) Atwater. She was a 1964 graduate of Old Fort High School. On June 17, 1966 she married Larry L. Avers and he survives. Karen was a licensed beautician who spent most of her life as a homemaker. She loved to cook and you could often find her at Ole Zim's Wagon Shed helping prepare meals. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Elmore where she was very active in the Ladies Aid. She also enjoyed bowling, camping, sewing, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 45 years Larry L. Avers of Elmore, sons: Rob (Michelle) Avers of Bowling Green, OH, Steve (Peggie) Avers and Dan (Jamie) Avers both of Elmore; grandchildren: Zak, Katy, Brandon, Jarod, Jeremy, Jordyn, & Nathan; and sister Beverly Zimmerman of Lindsey, OH. She was preceded in death by her brother Myron "Bud" Atwater and sisters Ruth Fahle and Marjorie Schling. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8pm at the Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore-Genoa Chapel. Due to construction, Funeral Services for Karen will be held at 11am Monday, January 23, 2012 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 19225 W. Witty Rd., Elmore with Rev. Stephen H. Lutz officiating. Burial will be in Harris- Elmore Union Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Ladies Aid of Trinity Lutheran Church or Harris-Elmore E.M.S.
