Justine Heineman Bianchi

Justine Heineman Bianchi, 99 years and 9 months, of Put-in-Bay passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021 at her home. She was born January 17, 1922 at Put-in-Bay, the daughter of Norman Victor and Helen Margaret Heineman. She married Nello F. Bianchi on September 20, 1949 and he preceded her in death on April 30, 2007. Justine was a devoted lifelong member of Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Put-in-Bay where she was the organist and choir director for more than 70 years until retiring at the age of 90. She was a 1939 graduate of Put-in-Bay High School and a graduate of Miami University of Ohio, where she studied music. She was a talented musician and an integral part of the Put-in-Bay community, providing music as the pianist for events ranging from Halloween parties and graduations to weddings and theater productions. Justine was also a beloved teacher at Put-in-Bay High School for more than 20 years, teaching music, art, Latin and English and organizing and directing musical events and programs. Surviving are her children: Michael Bianchi of Put-in-Bay, Diane Bianchi of Put-in-Bay, Charmaine Bianchi Smith of Huron, Brenda (John) Ferrell of Oregon, OH, David (Deborah) Bianchi of Put-in-Bay, Barbara (Dennis) Kai of California; grandchildren: Adam Ferrell, Amanda (Matthew) Traunero, Stephanie Bianchi, Adam Bianchi, Stephen Kai, Shannon Kai; and great-grandchildren Abigail Traunero and Lucy Traunero. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nello; brothers: Gustav Heineman, Harry Heineman, and Louis Heineman, sister Eunice Horan and granddaughter Laura Justine Felicitas Kai. Visitation will be held Monday, November 1, 2021 from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Corner Stone Room. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Nicholas Cunningham at 12:00 noon on Monday, November 1, 2021 at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church followed by interment in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Put-in-Bay. Luncheon and fellowship to follow at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
