Joyce Lammers

Joyce M. Lammers, of Danbury Township, died peacefully Feb. 21, 2013 eleven days shy of her 88th birthday, at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg from complications from Lewy Body Disease. She was born Joyce Martina Kibbel on March 4, 1925 in Oak Harbor to William H. and Sylvia (Paulsen) Kibbel. She married Walter R. (Sonny) Lammers in 1956 and moved to Danbury, where she helped him build the family's business, Sonny's Beach. Seven years ago, she moved to Maumee to be cared for by her family. She spent her life sacrificing for and devoted to her family, finding endless joy in her children, their wives and, eventually, her grandchildren. She delighted in quilting, gardening, bird watching, and other nature outside her window, as well as caring for a parade of spoiled dogs. She was an avid Cleveland sports fan, particularly fond of her Indians and Cavaliers. She remembered the Cleveland Indians' last championship, and the hope for another Cleveland championship lives on in her family. She is survived by her four sons and their wives: Bill (Nancy) of Olmsted Falls, Guy (Linda Marckel) of Maumee, John (Cindy) of Baldwinsville, N.Y., and Pete (Sueann) of Danbury; and six grandchildren: Kirk and Jackie; Kaylee and Lauren; and Sarah Barbera and Christina Curley. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982, her parents and her sister, Helen O. Hetrick, in 2000. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Monday, February 25, 2013 at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, Lakeside-Marblehead, OH where visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00 7:00 pm. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery, Danbury Township. Rev. Chris Young will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be Peninsula Little League Baseball, Back To The Wild (www.backtothewild.com) , or the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 East River Road in Perrysburg, Ohio.
