Joyce D. Homler, 69, of Port Clinton, OH, died Monday, April 10, 2006 at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, after fighting cancer since 1998. She was born October 13, 1936 in Port Clinton, the daughter of the late Bernard and Esther (Miller) Petersen. She married Alfred Homler on June 2, 1950 and he survives. Mrs. Homler was a telephone operator for GTE for 30 years and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton. She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan who enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino. Surviving is her husband, Alfred; daughters: Debbie (John) Wozniak, and Penny Mares both of Port Clinton; son, Jeff (Tami) Homler of Port Clinton; seven grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that she enjoyed spending time with. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 AM Thursday, April 13, 2006 at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton, OH where the family will receive friends from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. Wednesday. Rev. James Lehman will officiate, and interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Ottawa County Humane Society.
