Josephine N. Meinke, 86, of Raleigh, NC, and formerly of Oak Harbor, OH, died Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the home of her daughter in North Carolina. She was born in Chelsea, MA on February 16, 1926, a daughter of Frank & Nancy (Cambria) Serio. On September 5, 1943, Josephine married Clayton G. Meinke, and he preceded her in death on November 17, 1999, after 56 years of marriage. She was a member of the choir at St. Charles Catholic Church. Josephine was a loving wife and mother, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, William F. (Phyllis) Meinke, Linda (Norman) Gruner, and Denise (Dick) Franchi; brother, Frank Serio; sister, Concetta Serio McQuaid; and grandchildren, Charles (Cindy) Smarkel, Andrew (Tara) Gruner, William (Daryll) Franchi, Amanda Gruner, Matthew Smarkel, Michael Franchi, Katherine Franchi, Caitlin Smarkel, and Jecenia Smarkel. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Nancy (Meinke) Smarkel; and brother, Richard Serio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Friday, July 20, 2012 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor, with the Rev. David L. Ritchie, officiating. Interment will be in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, is handling arrangements.
