Joseph Mahler, 79, of Marblehead, OH died Saturday, February 18, 2012 at his residence. He was born November 12, 1932 in Jerusalem Twp., Curtice, Ohio the son of the late Joseph B. and Gladys H. (Scott) Mahler. He married Darlene Boss on February 1, 1957 and she survives. Mr. Mahler worked as a mechanic for U. S. Gypsum and Brush Wellman retiring in 1997. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Danbury; National Riffle Association, Life member of AmVets Post 17, Sandusky and he enjoyed working on cars, antique tractors and farming. Surviving are his wife: Darlene; sons: Gerald (Karen) Mahler of Huron, Joseph B. Mahler II of Port Clinton, Christopher E. Mahler of LakesideMarblehead; daughter: Valerie Mahler of LakesideMarblehead; daughter-in-law: Lisa Phillabaum of Port Clinton; grandchildren: Samantha Mahler, Christian Mahler, Dale Mahler, Jr., Kassidy Mahler, Kaylee Mahler, Jason Mahler, Jessica Mahler and Aliyah Phillabaum; great-grandchildren: Drew Mahler, Rachelle Mahler, Mackenzy Mahler, Nathanael Mahler, Clayton Mahler; brothers: Franklin Mahler, Gerald (Lucy) Mahler, Walter (Linda) Mahler, James (Rita) Mahler all of LakesideMarblehead; sisters: Barbara (James) McGee of Port Clinton, Carol (William) Covey of LakesideMarblehead, Margaret (Gilbert) Wadsworth of LakesideMarblehead, Evelyn (Cleo) Bodi of LakesideMarblehead; sister-in-law: Delores Mahler of LakesideMarblehead, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Dale Mahler; brothers: Christopher Mahler, Jack Mahler; sister: Ellen Mahler and sister-in-law: Gloria Mahler. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton where visitation will be held Wednesday from 2:00 4:00 and 6:00 8:00 pm. Pastor Chris Young will be officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH. Memorial contributions may be given to Stein Hospice or St. Paul Lutheran Church, Danbury.
